Saturday Shoes: Behr Botas

Blogger turned friend, Whitney sent me an email with the above subject line and a link to these adorable shoes:

Too bad they seem to be out of Behr's size (for the next few years!) everywhere I have looked.

Saturday Shoes just might be making a comeback...what do you think?

Saturday Shoes: Fourth of July

s

A few of you asked what happened to Saturday Shoes. Well, the year of the shoe fast actually left me wanting less shoes. Imagine that! However, holidays are always a fun reason to celebrate, and to whip up an idea board, so here you go.

If I were planning my perfect Fourth of July, it would be spent on a boat. I would bring my blueberry cake and a cooler of popcicles. I would rock a patriotic bathingsuit in gingham or solid blue. And I would add a touch of sparkle with starfish earrings and adorable sandals. It would be a day filled with good friends and maybe even some water skiing, capped off by fireworks of course! What would your imaginary Fourth of July look like?
I am linking up to Friday's Fancies with {AV}

I have to confess, I have a weak spot for fancy sandals. As a mom and an urbanite, these are never ever practical. I clock to many city miles on my feet and spend too many hours chasing a toddler. Fancy sandals get chewed up before August arrives. But I do like to look at them.

Saturday Shoes: Grapefruit Flats

Yesterday I shared my recent blog date with Whitney. We have a growing list of things in common, our lust for shoes and good real food, plus we are both working mommas who miss our little ones so much it hurts. Our instagram feeds (hers + mine) are filled with images of us soaking up all the cuddles we can, in an effort to hold on to them when we get to the office. Bottom line, she is a pretty stellar lady.

Whitney recently told me that she found my blog via a Saturday Shoes post. I love that. So last week she sent me a link to a pair of shoes that she was undoubtably about to purchase, it seemed only natural that she would get a Saturday Shoes feature of her own.

Just like Whitney, these shoes are pretty awesome.

Saturday Shoes: Sandal Season

About this time last year, RueLaLa was featuring a fine selection of Jack Rogers. I was almost enticed to give up my shoe fast. But I stuck to my promise and did not slip. And then, RueLaLa did me right. They recently had another sale. And today, I am the proud owner of a pair of Navajo Brown Society Jack Rogers. Bring on Summer!

p.s. To those of you who are worried about my budget and my closet space, no need to worry. I am not going to purchase every pair of shoes featured during 2011. The point of the shoes fast was not to defer my spending, but rather to deter. The shoe collection was assessed. Some pairs were tossed, while others were consigned. I am purchasing new shoes, sparingly.

Saturday Boots

Welp, I took the plunge. After staring at these boots for a year, I bought a different pair. Same spirit, but a bit more tame. Now I just need to figure out what to wear them with!

Desperately seeking style tips!

Saturday Shoes: Red Toms, for real!

You may have noticed here, that I fianlly got my toms! After much debate during my 2011 shoe fast, I bit the bullet and got them. I carefully reviewed the host of comments received and decided to go with the classic red canvas.

I love them.
And couldn't be happier with the purchase!
Hooray for shoes.

In case you don't follow me on instagram (@thescribblepad),
here are me and my red toms with an adorable pair of stocking feet to match:

New Shoes: Nude Pumps

Folks, the shoe fast is over! I purchased my first pair of shoes this past week. For a few years, I have been on the search for the perfect pair of nude or beige pumps. While strolling through t.j. maxx this past week, I stumbled upon a pair of Franco Sarto pumps in the perfect shade of nude and my size. It seems the pair is no longer available, so here is a peek at a very similar pair.

The best part of my first shoe purchase? They were $39.99!

Saturday Shoes: The End

For Christmas 2010, I gave my husband a gift of no new shoes for 2011. I held to my promise and gift. And today, I have likely become more discerning with future shoe purchases. But only 2012 will tell. Here is the collection:

...then again, now that I am reminded of these fabulous shoes, I might need to purchase a few pairs!

Saturday Shoes: Lounge Loafers

There are times when this shoes fast has been highly beneficial. For instance, my obsession with loafers that has been lingering from the '90s would be doing serious damage on my wallet this year. Oh goodness, I love loafers.  Here are my favorites right now:

the name alone is a bit intimidating

again the name...

There are times when I am grateful I am on a shoe fast. I am grateful for the shoe fast.

Saturday Shoes: by Lauren

When I first saw this adorable picture, I immediately noticed the boots Lauren was wearing.  They have been on my mind ever since, eventually making it into the Saturday Shoes line up.  Lauren tells the story behind this great pair of boots:

"I'm not normally much of a shopper, and I generally avoid Black Friday shopping like the plague. But defying all odds, I ran out on Black Friday last year to help out my mom. It was the end of the day and the sale prices were about to come to an end when I spotted these boots. Only the display pair was left standing and miraculously they were in my size. We've been pretty much inseparable (save summer) ever since. A big thanks to Shannon for the feature!"

p.s. you can see how Lauren styled her boots here and more of her design eye on her blog, with two cats.

What are your go to shoes for the transition from fall to winter?

Saturday Shoes: for Behr

Behr has acquired quite a collection of shoes.  It might sound crazy for a 10 month old, but his feet need to be toasty and warm too.  The two pairs on the left are favorites and the two on the right are on Behr's Christmas list.

The Favorites:

Every pair of booties from Little Friends on etsy.  We have purchased two pairs for Behr, and one as a gift for our friend Bella.  All three have become fast favorites!

Zutano Fleece Booties - Behr wore these almost every single day as a baby until the DC weather turned hot.  We even snuck in a few wears early fall before he out grew them.  The simple snap makes them adjustable and stay on wiggly toes.

The Wish List:

As the weather gets colder, Behr has been begging me to get him some warm shoes.  These Minnetonka Sheepskin Booties would do just the trick!

And who doesn't like knit items on babies?  The pair on the bottom right from Tane Organics would be adorable on Behr.

Do you have a favorite pair of shoes? Or a favorite pair of baby booties?
I would love to hear your top picks.

Saturday Shoes: by Maggy

Today's Saturday Shoes are brought to you by Maggy from over at Living Tall

I would like to say that I found these shoes...but really they found me... at a little boutique in San Francisco. They said "hey you thought you didn't like booties, but you just hadn't met the right ones." And you know what? They were right. Angels sang and my closet shone as I imagined stepping into this "won't they make my legs look big" trend. Before I knew it, the cash register was ringing and we were out the door. Only problem was that they were in my best friend's shopping bag and not mine. Darn you shopping budget. But that's ok...a girl can dream! Plus, they looked hot on her. I'm a good friend darn it! Just like Shannon. Thanks for having me over!

Here is Maggy and her best friend Becky
the one who actually gets to wear these shoes!

Saturday Shoes: Party Time

Yesterday I showed you what I would wear if I had glamourous parties to go to along with an endless budget.  Today it is all about the shoes.  As with the outfits, comfort and versatility are key.  Here are my top pics to wear with both outfits.

j.crew viv flat
I love this flat.  It is perfect.
Although being as short as I am, a little heel typical serves me better.
Even still, flats are my favorite.
This flat would easily work with holiday festivities, a suit for work, or great boot cut jeans for an evening out.

Alright lets discuss booties.
In 2010 I didn't have the guts to get a pair of these.
And now, I am on a shoe fast.
But I am really not sure whether I can pull off the look.
Especially with a dress.
These would definitely have to be tried on, that is, if I were buying shoes.

And finally, a classic pump with a bit of sparkle.
The heel is adorned in itty bitty gems, adding glam for the evening.
Sadly, a single trip down a brick sidewalk in DC would chew these up and spit them out.

Saturday Shoes: by julie

Have y'all met Julie

p.s. the y'all is for her and her southern roots.
she uses the phrase far more than I do.

If you asked Julie about her favorite pair of shoes, she would likely struggle to pick a single pair.
Instead she would go on about how she loves her converse/chucks taylors.

All 6 pairs!

Don't believe me?

or her post about which pair to get next or even the wee little pair she found her son.

One more picture for good measure

Saturday Shoes: Help a Bostonian!

Call all shoe fanatics!  I need help answering a reader question that truly has me stumped!

So this lady lives in Boston sent me the following email:

"I neeed shoes... Seriously... and you have a shoe blog, and we have the same exact taste-- so maybe you can write a blog entry about this?? want to help me? you know, with ALL your free time?

Off of the top of your head- I need shoes that can be worn with jeans through the boston butthole winter. And- they have to be shoes that cover my feet, not driving moccasins or ballet flats. Any ideas?"

Here are a few options, but I fear my pics are sub-par.  Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Or you could go with my original shoe-fast pair, the Quoddy Ring Boot

Saturday Shoes: Vans by Bridget

Incase you missed the broadcast, I am off celebrating by fifth wedding anniversary.  Wahoo!  So today's Saturday shoes are brought to you by Bridget.  Lately, she has been loving classic vans, the gray ones, with laces.  Did you get that?  It is very important to be specific.

Classic Vans, grey, with laces

Check out how Bridget rocked these sneaks the night before Paker was born.

Full Term!  And still gorgeous!

Amazing right?

Maybe if we all wore vans we would look this hot pregnant...maybe.

...and go into labor at 39 weeks instead of 41.5...

A girl can dream right?

Saturday Shoes: More Toms

Remember when I really wanted red toms?  Well, I still do.  However, one of the benefits of a year long shoes fast is you really think about things before making a purchase.  And now...now that I have had 6 months to think about it, I am torn.  What about chocolate toms?

What'cha think?

Red
or Chocolate
or Both?

Saturday Shoes: Best Booties

Words cannot describle how excited I got when I stumbled upon these gems.  The look absolutely heavenly.  And surely I would wear them with everything!  Super practical don't you think?  {note the thick sarcasm} Well, at least they are nice to look at.  Man, oh, man.  This shoe fast might is getting the best of me!

...LOVE...LOVE...LOVE!

Saturday Shoes: Penny Loafer Upgrade

It is officially cooling down here on the East Coast.  The dreary rain has me thinking fall and what better way to get geared up than to dream about shoes I cannot purchase?  Oh, there are probably a thousand better things to do with my time, but this is still pretty fun.
Retro Glam by Naughty Monkey

I love the details of this shoe,
I just don't think I could pull it off,
especially in my stodgy government office
All in all, this shoe is a little "punk" for me

Nena by Marc by Marc Jacobs

Swoon
If I could be in love with a shoe, this would be it.
The detailing is perfect. The heel adds chunk, the gold plate keeps it classy.
They could fly in the work place, but sadly will never pass my non-existant shoe budget.
At $295, I just cannot justify these, even if I was buying shoes.
Don't mine me, I will go cry in a corner and lust over these from afar.
And then there are these.  Sleek, simple, understated.
They would certainly be the most versitile.  But perhaps too boring?
Choices, choices!
The good news is, the shoe fast continues, so it isn't my choice to have to make!

What shoes are you most looking forward to getting on your feet this fall?

Saturday Shoes: by Alex

My heart fluttered a little faster when I first stumbled upon these black flats.  You see, as summer begins to draw to an end and my flip flops retire, I long for a new pair of black flats to carry me through the rest of the year.  Alex, you are a girl after my own heart.  Thanks for sharing this fabulous find.  If only I could go out and buy them.

Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Flat
The sure do look pretty perfect to me.
