Nine to Five: Kristie

This week's Nine to Five stylish lady is the lovely Kristie from Kristie Was Here. Her style is classic and reading her Q&A very much like most of us, appreciating great style and an even better price. Make sure you check out more of her style details over on Alex's blog

Work Enviro:
When I'm interacting with physicians or executives it's straight up business professional (gotta love nylons). However, when I'm in the office editing video clips and plugged into a computer, jeans or slacks do the trick. Since I work in the medical device industry, there are some days I'm also in baggy blue scrubs. On scrub days, I like to sport my neon Nike Frees. Fun fact: I bought them after consulting my fellow runner, Alex. Blogger-five!

Brand Crushes:
Anthropolgie Banana Republic Nordstrom

Wardrobe Staples:

  • Bootcut jeans
  • Black flats
  • Black pumps in which I can stand in for at least 6 hours Check out Nine West or Cole Haan. Cole Haan pumps are pricey, but they partnered with Nike to make a killer pump with Nike Air. It's like a running shoe married a stiletto.
  • Black pant suit I'm a HUGE fan of Banana Republic Outlet for suits and accessories. They offer an additional 10% discount for AAA members.

Does blogging make you a better employee at your day job? YES! Hell yes!! Writing, and by extension blogging, keep me sane. Blogging is my primary creative outlet and has helped me hone skills that are essential for my job (photography/videography). It also makes a day spent on email and Excel quite bearable since I have a creative outlet waiting at home.

Do you view blogging as a means of recording life, or as the start of an alternative career? Well, it's not the start of an alternative career, but blogging isn't just about recording my life either. It's about getting to the real story, the complicated narrative. Writing is a way to connect to others and to myself. It's a search for the truth that I somehow recognize once it's been written.

Is blogging your main outlet, or do you also write novels, run marathons, and knit all of your own sweaters? Blogging is one of my main outlets, as well as traveling and photography. I recently took a two week trip to Europe and have been making videos of my adventures in each country. I also enjoy dancing, electronic music, and running. In fact, I ran my first half marathon this month (consider it a slight lapse in judgement).

How do you find time to do it all? When do you blog? I don't. I don't find time to do it all. Some days I work late, make dinner for friends, collapse into bed and don't write a word. Other days I snag a minute to write out an epiphany, eat cereal for dinner, and edit videos. I blog when I can and try not to stress when I can't. I blog at my kitchen table, listening to music and completely ignoring the clock. When my computer dies, I call it a night.

Finally, what have you been pinning lately? What are the items you are just dying to add to your work wardrobe?, Pinterest is where I go for awesome quotes and inspiration. I haven't used it much for fashion help, but I have used it pin a copious amount of someecards.

In other news, I've been on the hunt for cute, comfortable outfits in which to travel. I need to look professional when traveling with coworkers, but I'll be damned if I'm uncomfortable for a six hour flight. Jeans, boots/flats, and a chunky sweater is my ideal combo. I'm currently looking for that sweater...
