Saturday Shoes: Run run run

As you read this, I am packing up our bags and saying so long to Florida.  The hardest part of packing for me is finding room for my sneakers.  Confession: I have big feet.  But these little duds would not only be pretty, but also super light weight for my travels.  Yes please!

What are your favorite pair of running shoes?

I did it! (again)

Phew...I finished the race. This is a picture with Lauren, my running buddy who literally willed me to train with her superb motivational chatter! She is pretty awesome.

So the race. It went well. The first 6-7ish miles were great. I kept about a 10 and a half minute pace. Then my stupid IT band, yes that is the technical term, stupid IT band, flared and tightened. The lovely result of being slightly pigeon-toed. I was immediately reminded of the stretches and training I was given in college to ease this injury.

Enough whining? I finished the race and was so satisfied with the results that I am considering another race, Memorial Day Weekend at the Chesterton Tea Party. Just to clarify, I still don't like running.

I don't like running.

I really don't. Do you remember what happened last year when I ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler?
Direct Quote:
It was certainly an incredible experience.
And now that I finished, I feel no desire to EVER run that far again!

So what did I decide to do? I registered for the race AGAIN this year!!! Momentary lapse in judgement. Peer pressure.

Training is going better. 6 miles in my new max. At least I get to run with fun people: Volpe, K-Volpe, and Nat! And a pair of hot shoes to run in. {see photo above}

So tomorrow is the big day. Pray my legs last and I don't get dehydrated again!

I Did It!

I completed the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler! Thanks for the encouragement along the way. I never got into the full swing of training (about 3 miles was my max) but I stuck it out and ran the race. There were certainly times I had to walk, but I kept it moving as much as I could. Running with Shannon was a huge help. She kept up our pace and kept me away from my tendancy to sprint and burn out. She is a terrific running partner! Here is a picture of us crossing the finish line:

2009 Cherry Blossom 10 Miler

Let me begin this post by telling you that I don't run. I am not a runner. I have signed up to run the 10 miler. Does this make any sense to anyone? Because I am a bit confused about what on earth I was thinking when I promised a friend I would do this with her! She runs marathons. I don't run anything.

So I decided to keep it a secret and not tell anyone, that way I won't disappoint anyone when I don't do well. And of course, this is ridiculous. My husband called me out. He suggested that I wasn't telling anyone so that I could make it easier on myself to quit. He was right.

So now I am telling the world! Well, at least the world that consists of everyone who reads my blog. And now, that I am telling you, I am asking you to keep me accountable and motivated! I could use all the encouragement I can get!
